Riverhead Community Awareness Program, Inc. (CAP) has been awarded a $625,000 federal grant ($125,000 a year for five years) from the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP). On Friday September 6, 2013, ONDCP Director Gil Kerlikowske announced $19.8 million in new Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Support Program grants to 147 communities across the country. The awards are in addition to the $59.4 million in continuation grants simultaneously released to 473 currently funded DFC coalitions. Riverhead CAP was awarded the grant on behalf of the Riverhead Community Coalition for Safe and Drug-Free Youth; the funds will be used to involve and engage the Riverhead community to prevent substance use among youth.
